Getting started!


Gridlocke is still very much in the early stages of development but I feel like I have nailed down enough of the basic mechanics and ideas to have something concrete to share. I have worked on a handful of small games in the past for game jams/practice but this is my first time working on something a little more in-depth so I wanted to try to document the process.

My goal for Gridlocke is to make a short run-based tactics game, with simple but engaging gameplay, with enough customization and variance to offer a fairly unique experience on each subsequent run. The player will be able to customize a deck of units and combat will take place on a grid where positioning matters. Players will be able to upgrade their abilities as they progress by adding units, and acquiring special items and perks that will affect their board state.

I am a solo developer with a full-time job, so I don't have tons of time to devote but I'll continue working on this in my free time and post updates here and there as things come together. Thanks for reading! =)
