Wow, this is a really great prototype! The controls are great and smooth (although I would prefer the option of using WASD), and the combat is similar to the original Zelda in a challenging and strategic way.
My biggest gripe is that the enemies seem to move in a random direction with a random number pixels. I have found no success in changing this in my own experience, but it keeps the enemies pretty much stationary and not much of a challenge. Also, the boss's flames being more realistic was pretty jarring. I find it best to keep things stylistically consistent even if you can make it look better.
Overall, awesome start! I'd love to play the original game when it comes out if hasn't already!
I know this is an older prototype, but I wanted to say that its pretty good so far. The mechanics feel tight and everything is responsive. Right now the biggest thing I could suggest is polishing the audio and visuals, such as an attack animation and better fitting sound effects.
Hey thanks for checking it out and thanks for the feedback!
Yeah I mainly used this as a way to start learning about 2D action games so it's definitely lacking polish but I like to think I've improved a lot since then. Right now, I'm currently working on a puzzle-platformer so hopefully I'll be posting that soon! (I have a lot more time since I'm home from work during quarantine. Haha)
Sorry it took me literal years to reply. Did you ever work on that puzzle platformer? I've took a glance at your page and you have plenty of games, and when I find the time I am going to play through them :)

Nice start :) Is the boss beatable?
Yes, it should be! Lol
There definitely could be some bugs, it's been a long time since I've worked on this project...
Thanks for sharing! I recorded myself playing this video game and uploaded the session on my gaming YouTube channel:
Nice work. I'm a fan of Zelda games, so this was nice to play.
